A few things that I think you should know are the types of conditioners and what they can do.
Most highly textured hair( kinky to very wavy) tends to be dry and might be helped by a moisturizing conditioner, most of which coat the hair with a waxy substance.
When capped and place under a dryer the conditioner on your hair is deposited on top of the hair shaft call the cuticle, the heat from the dryer lifts the cuticle and the conditioner is partially deposited under the cuticle.
This process gives shine and softness to the hair and makes it easier to comb the hair.
Relaxed hair needs a combination of moisture and protein.
There are lots of products that are formulated to impart the proper amount of balance.
Too much moisture will leave the hair limp and will not bounce or hold curl.
Too much protein will make the hair brittle and can actually brake the hair.
I can not stress enough the importance of consulting with your hair stylist.
If you don't have one and do you hair at home please don't hesitate to leave a comment that I can respond to.
One of the things that your hair stylist can tell you that I can not is how strong your hair is. I may be able to help you and your stylist as a consultant. Three heads are better than one. Jargon among hair professionals could also get to the heart of the problem quicker.
One more item that I want to talk about is over conditioning.
This an issue that often goes undetected because we use shine enhancers that will give the hair sheen for a while, but the true shine of healthy hair can be hidden by layers of dull waxy residue building up on the cuticle of the hair.
If your hair is healthy but dull, try using a hair clarifier. Strong enough to clear the residue from you hair, and gentle enough to leave the health and natural shine behind.
Now your conditioner will work better and you will see beautiful results.
